Our Great Spring Clean has one simple aim: to bring residents together to clear up the litter that blights our village environment. With this in mind a group of brave volunteers met on a sunny Saturday 26th March to collect and safely dispose of litter from our streets and green spaces.  It’s amazing what you can find in a couple of hours other than just general rubbish that has been thrown on the floor – notably we found 5 water cooler bottles, socks, shoes, and both drugs and a large knife that have been handed over to the Police.

On behalf of the village we would like to thank those who spared time to come and help (some of whom are in the photo below) and also Budgens (for the biscuits), Walnut Tree Café (for the lovely chocolate cake) and the Social Club (for opening the bar early).

Ideas from residents on how to keep our village litter free are actively being pursued so watch this space.  We would also like to thank residents who have been actively reporting issues of fly-tipped waste to both us and Central Bedfordshire Council.  Please do carry on doing this so that we can stop this from happening.
