New initiative being promoted by Central Bedfordshire Council using funding received from the Department for Transport as part of the Bus Service Improvement Plan settlement.
Peter Smythe Transport Training will be offering a free course, delivered on behalf of the Council, aimed at those wishing to change career, upskill or who are job seeking, to obtain their Category D PSV Driving Licence to become a bus driver. Through engagement with local bus operators, a guaranteed fast tracked job interview will be available at the end of the course, with both classroom based and online learning modules covering all aspects of the role of a bus driver, as well as the practical training required to pass the Category D PSV Driving Test.
Training sessions will take place at locations within Bedfordshire as both individual and small cohorts over the coming months. To be eligible for this course, trainees must live within the Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire or Luton areas and must already hold a Category B car driving licence.
Recruitment days will be held at locations across Bedfordshire, with the first event to take place at Dunstable Leisure Centre, Court Drive, Dunstable LU5 4JD on 18th and 19th October 2024. To register your interest, please call 01234 954844, email public.transport@centralbedfordshire.gov.uk or make contact via the QR code on the attached flyer.
